Ruth's Genealogy

“I don't know who my grandfather was; I am much more concerned to know what his grandson will be.” -Abraham Lincoln

Or a new host, at least!

I am in the process of moving this WordPress.com blog to a WordPress.org blog at a hosted site, so please bear with me. The blog itself is moved and functioning quite well, but my bluebonnetcountry.com domain name isn’t active just yet, should be 24-48 hrs from last night (soon, I hope!).

I haven’t gotten all of the personalization completed, yet. But I do have a new header. I am also looking at new themes, although at this point MistyLook is still the best!

And about the WordPress.org Famous Five Minute Installation…It only took me 3 1/2 hours and 3 44oz Sonic Dr Peppers to get this beast off the ground! I’m really glad that I don’t smoke

Hi Ruth and thanks for the info you sent me about hosting! PhpGedView sounds very interesting, but for now at least, I think I’ll stick to WordPress.com.

I haven’t been blogging much lately, as I’m thinking I will buy a new computer come October and am spending much time on the Microsoft site gawking at Windows Vista :)…I know, it has its drawbacks, they say, but I am determined to love it! After all, I’m still sitting here with Windows 98!

Thanks so much, Denise! It’s good to know that I have a comrad-in-arms!
After the initial headache of getting this beast installed and actually functioning, things have gone pretty smoothly. Just some tweeking left to do.
Eventually, I want to install PhpGedView and link it to a page here. I might need to cry on your shoulder about that, if that would be ok. I’ll bring my own Kleenex!

I’m a WordPress.org girl too. If there’s anything I can do to help, just let me know.

Just curious, from what site do you purchase your domain name, and what web host did you decide to go with? I may move over to self-hosting one day myself, so I’m wondering what’s the best way to go, especially with domain names.
