Ruth's Genealogy

“I don't know who my grandfather was; I am much more concerned to know what his grandson will be.” -Abraham Lincoln

Hi, everyone! My name is Ruth Stephens and I live near Fort Worth, Texas. I have 2 wonderful daughters, as well as a fantastic granddaughter who will soon be graduating from high school and a mischievous and energetic grandson who will soon start kindergarten. And there’s also my personal assistant, a rather singular and inquisitive soul known as Nala.

Most of my immediate family is from Texas, although I was born in Colorado. But if you go back 3 or 4 generations, you will see my folks in Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia and Kentucky. Most were farmers, several fought (and died) in the Civil War and if you travel even further back, you’ll find many who fought in the Revolutionary War and at least one ancestor Charles Carroll, who signed the Declaration of Independence.

Some of my more popular surnames are: Appling, Bennett, Brown, Carr, Carrico, Carroll, Chappell, Clark, Davis, Dixon, Easley, Graham, Hall, Hamilton, Hibbler, Isler, Jetton, Kennedy, Knox, Lee, Lunsford, Martin, Matthews, Maultsby, McBurnett, McDonald, Melton, Rogers, Smith, Stanley, Starr, Turner, Turney, and Vance.
